I’m Shannon Beresford, and I was recently hired as the probation housing navigation coordinator with Home Start Inc. I live on the Mesa Grande Indian Reservation near Julian and hold an Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Kaplan College (2014). Since graduating, my career has included roles in Security, Corrections, and Administration, providing valuable learning experiences.
For the past two years, I worked as a Detentions Officer with Core Civic at the Otay Mesa Detention Center, primarily with female U.S. Marshal inmates and high-level ICE detainees. Before that, I spent over five years with the Santa Ysabel Tribal Cannabis Regulatory Agency, advancing from Surveillance Agent to Director of Backgrounds and Licensing, where I conducted background investigations and ensured regulatory compliance.
In this vital role, I will lead the charge in supervising our dedicated Navigator staff, overseeing critical projects, and ensuring our services consistently meet the highest standards of excellence.
With responsibilities ranging from staff development and training to case management and crisis response, I will help our team navigate the complex needs of the communities we serve. I'm excited to play a pivotal role in building strong partnerships with referral sources and community organizations, ensuring that Home Start is a trusted leader in empowering families and creating positive change.
"I discovered Home Start Inc. on Indeed and was inspired by their mission to strengthen families and prevent child abuse and recidivism. I’m excited to contribute to their vision, grow with the team, and meet new people along the way."
A San Diego native raised in Paso Robles, I’m a mother of three and enjoy attending concerts, exploring lakes and rivers on my jet ski, and listening to all genres of music.
