Get a Good Deal and Do Good Things

We’re no ordinary thrift shop. The Home Start Thrift Boutique is a nonprofit thrift store offering quality second hand and vintage items to benefit San Diego families in need.

Your Thrift Boutique purchases help Home Start support life-changing programs such as our Maternity Housing Program and Community Services for Families among others. We reinvest profits back into these programs that help at-risk families and children thrive and succeed.

As a social enterprise, the Thrift Boutique also employs Home Start clients, offering a supportive employment opportunity where they can get on-the-job training and learn valuable skills to support their young families.

Come see our always-changing selection

What You’ll Find at the Thrift Boutique

We have a carefully curated selection of gently used and vintage clothing, household goods and furniture. All of our quality vintage and second hand items are donated and our store manager ensures everything is in good condition and working order. We often carry a variety of low-priced brand-new goods as well!

Clothing: We love vintage clothing, but we also carry a lot of gently worn second hand contemporary pieces. We have kids’ clothes, girls’ clothes, boys’ clothes, workplace clothing, dresses, jeans, blouses, sweaters, jackets, coats, hats, shoes, sneakers, t-shirts, skirts, and pants.

Jewelry: We offer vintage and modern necklaces, pins, earrings, bracelets, and watches – all at affordable thrift store prices.

Accessories: We always have a great selection of ties, handbags, scarves, and hats to make your ensemble complete.

Don’t miss our back room

Furniture: We carry tables, chairs, bed frames, bookshelves, sofas, recliners, dressers, nightstands and many other pieces of contemporary and antique furnishings.

Household Items: In our back room we carry lamps, mirrors, clocks, decorative pillows, wall art, electronics and other surprises.

Kitchen goods: We always have a wide selection of glasses, table settings, cookware, dishes, and centerpiece ideas. We make an effort to stock holiday-specific decor too!

Make a Donation to the Thrift Boutique

Having a Marie Kondo moment? De-clutter your life and donate your gently-used, vintage, and second hand quality clothing and household goods to the Thrift Boutique. We appreciate every donation and will provide a tax receipt for your records.

Meg Jacobs generous legacy gift funds Home Start's Thrift BoutiqueThank you, Meg Jacobs

The Home Start Thrift Boutique is a dream realized through a generous legacy gift from Margaret “Meg” Jacobs, who died of complications from breast cancer in 2012. Meg was a social worker who worked at Home Start early in her career. Through this gift, Home Start has touched the lives of so many more children and families in need of our support.
