Home Start's 2024 Holiday Programs
For many struggling parents, providing gifts to their children is well beyond their reach. Help us help them by participating in our "Befriend-a-Family (Formerly Adopt-A-Family) Program" or "Toy Drive."
Home Start's Annual Befriend-A-Family
UPDATE: We are pleased to report that all of our families have been befriended. We are grateful for the huge outpouring of support.
We encourage everyone still interested in helping local children and families to please participate in our Toy Drive.
Annually, our Case Managers identify families from all of our life-changing programs who would otherwise be unable to celebrate the holidays. You can give them a reason to celebrate by fulfilling their wishes. Case Managers work with each family member to create their personal wish list.
We then match each family with a donor partner/benefactor.
Home Start's Annual Toy Drive & Distribution
Each year, we invite more than 150 Home Start families to come and “shop” for just the right gifts for each child.
Donations for this event can be delivered to our main office at 5005 Texas Street, San Diego, CA 92108 where we will have a storage unit in our parking lot staffed by volunteers during the following dates and times:
- Tuesday, December 3rd — 3:00 – 6:00 p.m.
- Thursday, December 5th — 3:00 – 6:00 p.m.
- Monday, December 9th — 3:00 – 6:00 p.m.
- Wednesday, December 11th — 3:00 – 6:00 p.m.
- LAST DAY for Toy Drive drop offs — Tuesday, December 17th -- 3:00 - 6:00 p.m.
