Meet Our New Board President and Home Start Hero, Cameron Clarke

Cameron Clarke and familyWe are so thrilled to have Cameron Clarke step into the role of President on our Board of Directors this month. Cameron has been volunteering with Home Start for four years and previously held the Vice President position. What is he looking forward to the most in this new role?

“I am very excited to work alongside Laura to support the wonderful work she does in realizing the goals of the organization. I know this amazing opportunity will also help me grow as a member of our community, so I can continue to give back to all those who need our help in San Diego.”

Cameron became involved with Home Start shortly after moving to San Diego in 2015. As Relationships Manager for U.S. Bank Commercial Real Estate in La Jolla, he brings valuable knowledge about streamlining processes and helping clients grow their businesses.

“I was introduced to Home Start through our wonderful U.S. Bank Community Affairs Manager Rockette Ewell. She felt that my passion to support the community would align well with their mission. When introduced to Home Start I could immediately see the passion and commitment from the board members and CEO and I knew this was the organization for me.”

Family Support

Hailing from Oregon, Cameron is a big Oregon Ducks fan. He graduated from the University of Oregon with a degree in psychology and a minor in business. We thank his wife, Erin Clarke, and his two girls McKenna (6) and Monroe (4) for sharing his time with us.

“I was very fortunate to grow up in a supportive family and I want that for every child in San Diego. I have seen firsthand how an unstable home life can create unnecessary barriers for children. Home Start helps parents by giving them the tools to support their child’s development, so every day more children can have the opportunity to achieve their dreams.”

Cameron’s Contributions to Home Start

Cameron has been essential in chairing our Marketing and Audit Committees and being a member of our Philanthropy Committee. He has organized the annual toy drive at U.S. Bank branches and volunteers at our holiday gift giving events. So, we asked what has been his favorite moment working with Home Start so far.

“I remember a moment where I was able to see the absolute joy in the face of a mother who had participated in the Maternity Housing Program. She was full of joy because she gained confidence in her skills as a mother and could now support her family on her own. With the support of Home Start she was able to secure a job that would allow her to give back to the community. I loved seeing the desire of this mother to pay it forward. She can now help others who may find themselves in the same position she was in prior to finding Home Start.”

Thank you, Cameron, for being such a dedicated Home Start supporter and for enabling us, and our Home Start clients, to give our best to the San Diego community. We are grateful for your time, your passion, and your leadership.
