Although a little hard to hear her story, watch Mary share how Home Start helped her and her husband overcome homelessness. She and her husband were sleeping behind our Home Start offices In El Cajon. Home Start reached out to Mary on multiple occasions, would give her food and hygiene kits, and enrolled her into our HEAP Homeless Outreach program.
After completing the VISPDAT (housing and health assessment), Mary and her husband were matched to our Rapid Rehousing Program. We moved them into their very own apartment on December 18th, 2020 – just in time for the holiday – and they have retained their housing since. Mary shared her success story during Hallo-Wine 2021, our annual fall fundraiser.
